Padel at the Rafa Nadal Academy
Padel has become a real second focus at the Academy, not an afterthought bolted onto the tennis program. Adults and juniors both have access to structured padel camps — full-week and half-week formats, group fitness built in, and dedicated indoor and outdoor courts.
What tells you how seriously the Academy takes it now: they’ve launched an Annual Padel Program, modeled directly on the same year-round Annual Tennis Program that’s produced elite juniors for over a decade — for players aged 12 to 18. It combines high-performance padel training with an accredited international academic curriculum at the on-site Rafa Nadal School, so junior players don’t have to choose between elite sport and their education. That’s a serious commitment of coaching, facilities, and academic infrastructure — not a holiday-week add-on.

What to Expect from Junior Accommodation at the Rafa Nadal Academy
The accommodations: Top-notch.
These kids walk around decked from head to toe in the latest tennis gear, sporting six-pack tennis bags slung over their shoulders that beg you to ask, “What’s in your bag?”
It’s not just about learning to hit a better backhand. This place makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger. A lifestyle, a world where tennis is everything.
Laundry is available on site and is arranged by the academy. Laundry is not available on Sunday. Junior rooms are cleaned during their stay.
I especially love the The Rafa Nadal Academy for high school players age 13 – 17.
Think about it, most high school players never get to train with coaches who actually played tennis at any level let alone a high level. So, they can only teach players a limited range of skills.
At the Rafa Nadal Academy kids learn by watching, listening and doing.
They learn how to think strategically on court. How to play matches better. They see firsthand how other kids their age level up & what goes into that. When they return home to their home school courts, they feel like they’ve earned a badge of honor. The confidence boost is real.
Junior Summer Camps vs. Annual Program at Rafa Nadal Academy
For tournament players, the professional world of tennis happens during the annual program (September-May).
This is when The Rafa Nadal Academy’s top players live & train there. The senior coaches are on point, periodization plans are drawn up, tournaments for the year are booked and players study here as well. So it’s a serious, focused environment.
And yes, the cost seems high, but when you break it down; training, schooling, room and board, tournament travel chaperoning, you’re basically giving your kid an all-access pass to live and breathe tennis 24/7 with other high-performance players. The senior coaches are the drivers of the annual program under the direction of Toni Nadal.
I’m not sure you can put a price tag on that for the right player & player level.
The summer camps are great for kids starting out or high schooler tennis players who want to improve their confidence and team position.
Tournament players should train during the annual program. Plan on training at least three weeks here if you want to see any real improvements.
That first week is really just about getting the lay of the land in a new country / place / schedule.

During the Rafa Nadal’s Summer program the kids are busy from morning till night. This is the time of year where players go on chaperoned trips off-site to Mallorca’s beaches, do off-court activities, go swimming & boating together. So there’s a real emphasis on Summer fun as well.
Adults: Find Your Best Adult Tennis Program
I think the adult programs at the Rafa Nadal Academy are solid, but like any tennis camp, the key is getting the right level of play on your court.
When I run my adult tennis holidays, I keep the camps capped at 12 players of the same level, with no more than a 1:4 coach-to-player ratio. It’s crucial to match players by ability, because when levels are off, the experience can quickly unravel. And nobody wants to travel all that way to feel frustrated on court.
Know Your Playing Level to Get the Most Out of the Program
At the Rafa Nadal Academy, they send you a playing level form before you arrive. Be honest when you complete it. If you’re unsure of your level, ask a coach for an honest assessment. Trust me, this can make or break your experience.
From my own experience, players often have their own perception of their level, but reality hits when other players start complaining about not being on the right court. It can throw the whole program off.
For adults, especially those in the improver (beginner-intermediate) stage, the academy has a lot to offer. There aren’t many true beginners traveling for tennis camps, but by the time players reach the improver stage, they’re hopping on planes for tennis holidays.
The academy has plenty of courts and coaches to manage these groups year-round, but your game will only improve if you’re matched with the right playing level.
Don’t try to play ⬆️ if you’re still working on foundational skills. You’ll get more out of your experience with focused coaching that suits your ability.
Rafa Nadal Academy Court Drills
If you’re an intermediate player (3.5 – 4.0 in the U.S.), you’ll get a solid workout. The academy’s drills focus on strategy, emphasizing defensive, neutral, and offensive play.
If you’re more beginner-intermediate, you’ll appreciate the friendly coaching towards your consistency, depth, and movement in your game.
If you get the chance to play on the clay, your body will thank you. But if you’re on the hard courts, don’t worry, the spa is waiting for you afterwards.
For adults, the Rafa Nadal Academy is ideal if you’re looking for an active, tennis-focused travel holiday. You’re going to work hard here.
Adulting at the Rafa Nadal Academy
The academy is built around its junior programs, so it runs on a tight schedule.
If you’re thinking of winding down with a nightcap, you’ll have to head off-campus to Porto Cristo or Manacor because there’s no late-night social scene here. Most adults who come to the academy are fine with that, but it can catch some people by surprise.
It’s also a great spot for solo travelers. You’ll have no problem enjoying your time if you’re focused on improving your game. But if you want to explore more of Mallorca while you’re here, you’ll definitely want to rent a car.
Rentals are easy to arrange and will make your experience richer and more flexible. But if you require an automatic make sure to address it up front. They’re a bit more because there’s fewer of them.
Keep in mind, the academy’s main focus is tennis. There’s not much effort put into social events for adults here. So, if you’re expecting organized dinners or mixers, that’s not part of the package.
This is very much an active, healthy holiday where the focus is on court. Be ready to train hard and rest well, because that’s the rhythm at the Rafa Nadal Academy.
Adult Residence at Rafa Nadal Academy
A standout is the hotel residence for adults. Staying in the adult residence gives you free access to the spa, daily fitness classes & Rafa Nadal Academy museum.
The Rafa Nadal Museum is open for adults staying at the adult residence free of charge at 17:30. Please note that there are NO tax free items and it seems that consistently, supplies are limited, FYI.
The Rafa Nadal Academy Shop
The Rafa Nadal Shop (which is different from the store) is at the entrance to the academy by the Rafa Nadal Museum.
The Nadal Store has everything you need from top branded gear for tennis, padel, cycling and multisport. Including; soft goods & hard goods and racket stringing on site – including tax free product.
What your should know about THE SPA is to bring your own swim cap. It’s mandatory in the spa & they’re strict about this. If you don’t have one with you they will charge you 6 euro per day to accommodate you.
As you can see, the rooms for adults are spacious, modern, clean, AC and come with a balcony. You’ll receive 2 single beds pushed together and it’s consistently noted that the beds & pillows are perfect for a solid nights rest.
The WIFI is fine. It’s not stellar for big work projects but it’s a decent connection for managing google maps and basic work functions.
Rent a Car to Visit the Rafa Nadal Academy: Mallorca is to special to miss
You also have free parking when you stay at the Rafa Nadal adult residence. So, again, rent a car, it’s worth having your basic conveniences & moving around the island is clutch. It also alleviates stress around how to arrive to the academy from the airport and back again.

Laundry is available at the Rafa Nadal Academy (not on Sunday) and is arranged by the hotel.
If you or your junior player require a physio while you’re at the academy – you can’t do better than using the hands that heal Rafa Nadal himself. They are highly trained specific to tennis, sports injuries & sports massage, so you’re in good hands.
You do have indoor & outdoor pools to take advantage of and a laundry list of sport classes to join daily at the academy throughout the year if you’d like to take advantage.
Racket rental is another thing you should know! If you decide to travel without your tennis racket, they will charge you 8 euro per day at the academy for a racket rental.
Healthy Food Options at the Rafa Nadal Academy: Fueling Your Game the Right Way
These days, it feels like everyone’s on a different diet, and keeping up can be tricky. But at the Rafa Nadal Academy, they’ve managed to strike a good balance between cleanliness and providing healthy options.
The breakfast, though, is the real winner! Players rave about it because the buffet is fresh, full of variety, and gives them the energy they need for the day.
There are a few restaurants on site, so you’ve got choices!
You can go with the buffet or order à la carte, depending on your booking.
In Spain, “half board” means you get breakfast and dinner included, while “full board” covers all your meals. Just a heads-up: alcohol isn’t part of the prepaid meal plans.
And let’s not forget the Academy’s best-kept secret, their coffee! It’s a standout and might just be what you need to kickstart those morning sessions.
The main language used at the academy is English. Though on-court you’ll hear both Spanish and English.
How to Book Your Stay & Where the Rafa Nadal Academy Could Improve
Where the Rafa Nadal Academy falls short is definitely in the booking process. I won’t sugarcoat it — the website can feel like a maze, and response times aren’t always quick. When people come to me frustrated about it, I get it; I’ve been through the same headaches myself.
If you’re booking spa sessions, massages, bike rentals, or extra court time, get those in early — waiting until you arrive can leave you without a spot.
